The webinar also tackled the evolving regulatory landscape for AI in Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) environments. Toni highlighted how the FDA is introducing a formal, quantitative risk-based framework for AI that applies across the drug product lifecycle. In contrast, Europe's draft Annex 22 currently restricts generative AI from critical GMP uses, though it allows it for non-critical GMP applications provided there is a "human-in-the-loop".
